CONSTITUTION OF THE KEGITES’ CLUB OF NIGERIA

PREAMBLE
We the entire member of the kegites` club having deemed it  fit in our interest, and for the purpose of  reviving the dwindling cultural heritage of our forefathers, and having solemnly  resolved:-

To promote unity and peace among the human race.
To resuscitate the cultural awareness of our      forefathers.
To provide a constitution for the purpose of registration.
Under the land (perpetual succession) act cap. 98.
Do hereby make,  enact and give to ourselves the following constitution:-

ARTICLE 1—VALIDITY OF CONSTITUTION
This shall be constitution of the kegites’ club here in referred to as the club or comradium. The provision of the constitution shall be binding on all members of the club. The club shall be governed in accordance with the provisions of this constitution.
If any provision  of  this constitution is  inconsistent unwritten constitution of  the  club, the unwritten  constitution shall  prevail, and such law, directive or action shall, to the  extent of  inconsistency be null  and  void.

ARTICLE 2—NAME AND ADDRESS
The organization shall be called the kegites (herein-after referred to as the club or comradium).tnhj he address of the club shall be private mail keg 000, Obafemi Awolowo        University, Ile-Ife. The world (overall) headquarters of the club shall be at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

ARTICLE 3—AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aims and objective of the club shall be:
    (a)    To promote some specific cultural heritage of our father land.
    (b)    To promote unity and peace among the human race.
    (c)    To promote honest living truth among living and truth among all member.
    (d)    To discourage racism, tribalism or sectionalism in all its fact.

ARTICLE 4:–      DEFINITION OF MEMBERS
a. Any person who having agreed to abide by the  constitution  of the club, is  initiated/transformed into the  club,  after a period of  tutorial  of  not  less than a month proceeding the initiation  and after passing a test which  is  conducted to show his interest in the  club on otherwise.
b. Membership of the club shall be open to everybody regardless of status, religion beliefs, race or tribes.

ARTICLE 5:    STRUCTURE
I. Members of the club shall consist of:
 (a) comrades; (b) fellows; (c) chief;
II. The comrades shall be student member of club except the past graduate Student.
III. They all be student in institution of higher learning.

Privileges
(a) Comrades shall have the privileged to
1. Use the facilities provided by the club.
2. Wear the regalia and in sigma of the club during all club activities.
3. Participate in recognized meeting and function of the club.

    (b)      The fellows shall be the non student member of the club.
i. Active student member shall on graduation be promoted to the status of a fellow.
ii. There shall be three cadres of fellow thus:
 (a) Fellow (b) Senior fellow  (c) life senior fellows.
iii. Movement from one cadre of fellowship to the other shall be by promotion.
iv. Privileges:  All fellows are entitled to privilege as stated for comrades above
(c)  The chief  shall be the head of the branches of club
                        (i) The overall head of the club shall be known as the world chief.
                        (ii) He shall be the incumbent chief of the world headquarters.

ARTICLE 6 PATRONS
The grand council of each IIyasis shall appoint as patrons any person who has proved dedication to the cause of the club.

ARTICLE: - 7 ADMINISTRATION
(i) The general administration of the club shall be coordinated by the world Chief by the assistance of the world ground council.
(ii) The administration of the branches (IIyasis) shall be coordinate by the Chief who is representative of the world chief in various IIyasis with the assistance of the grand council of the various branches (IIyasis).

 ATICLE 8:- THE GRAND COUNCIL
The grand council shall consist of the following officers.
1. The Chief
2. The Elder
3. The Parrot
4. The Cowries
5. The Purse
6. The Feature
7. The Assistant feature
8. The Transporter
9. Provost Marshall
10. Adjutant Marshal
11. Curator
12. Commissioner for special duties
13. Le pour/Tapper
14. Songito
15. Drumito
16. Director of Songis
17. Welfarer
18. Philosopher
19. Pourer

ARTICLE 9- DUTIES OF OFFICER
1.      THE CHIEF
(a) He shall be the representative of the world chief at the branch (11ya) level.
(b) He shall be the administrative head of his particular branch (11ya).
(c) He shall be member of the council of chiefisis.
(d) He shall have the power to initiate\transformate non member into the club during initiation ceremonies.
(e) He shall have the power to suspend or dismiss any comrade or fellow that acts contrary to the unwritten constitution (rules) of the club.
(f) He sh  all preside over the grand council of his 11ya.
(g) He shall be expected to be an embodiment of leadership, honesty and dedication.
(h) He shall have the power to summon all meeting of the grand council.

2. THE ELDER
a. He shall be expected to be a person who is vast in the activities of the club.
b. He shall be adviser to the chief on all matters affecting the club.
c. He shall carry out other functions as may be assigned to him from time to time by the chief

3. THE PARROT
a. Shall be the spokesman of the club
b. Shall carry out other functions as may be assigned to him from time by the chief.
c. He shall be a person current with the activities of the club.

 4. THE COWRIE
a. The cowries shall keep the account of the club.
b. He shall exercise the full control over the collection of all finances of the Control.
c. He shall jointly with the chief and purse sign cheques for withdrawals of such money as may be needed by the club for the day to day activities of the club.
d. Shall carry out other functions as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.

5.  THE PURSE

a. The purse shall receive and account for the entire club’s fund derived from whatever source.
b. He shall jointly with the chief and cowrie sign cheques for withdrawal of such money as may be needed for the day to day activities of the club.
c. He shall carry out other functions as may be assigned him from time by the


  THE FEATHER
a. The feather shall conduct and deal with all official correspondence of the club.
b. Shall record and minutes of the meeting of the grand council.
c. shall carry out functions as may be assigned to him from time to time by the chief.

 ASSISTANCE      FEATHER
a. Shall assist the feather in all his duties and act for him in his absence.
b. Shall carry out other function as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.

 TRANSPORTER
a. Shall be the mobility officer of the club.
b. Shall arrange for the transportation of members to and from all clubs activities
c. Shall carry out other function as may be assigned to him from time by the chief.

  PROVOST      MARSHAL
a. He shall ensure orderly conduct of all members of the club during all clubs.
b. Shall be the security officer of the club.
c. Shall carry out other functions a may be assigned him from to time by time by time the chief.

  ADJUTANT MARSHAL
a. He shall assist the provost marshal in all his duties, and act for him in his absence.
b. Shall carry out other functions as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.
     
CURATOR
a. Shall be the custodian of all physical properties of the club.
b. Shall see to the maintenance of all properties of the club.
c. Shall carry out other functions as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.
     
COMMISSI

ONER FOR SPECIAL DUTIES
Shall carry out all activities as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.
     
LE POUR/ TAPPER
Shall be responsible for the procurement and distribution of palmwine for all activities of the club.
       
SONGITTO
Shall be responsible for the arrangement and production of song during activities of the club.
 
DRUMMITTO
a. Shall be responsible for the arrangement and  beating of drum during  the activities  of the club.
b. Shall carry out other functions as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.
   
DIRECTOR OF SONGHIS
a. Shall assist the songito in all his duties and act s for him in his absence.
b. shall carry out other functions as may be  assigned him from time to time by the chief.
 
WELFARE
a. Shall be responsible for the general welfare of all members of the club.
b. Shall organize the feeding accommodation of members during all activities during all activities of the club.
c. Shall carry out other function as may be assigned him from time to time by the chief.
       
PHILOSOPHER
a. Shall through his philosophies encourage the upliftment of the culture of our fore –fathers.
b. Shall through his philosophies keep all members in a relaxed mood.
c. Shall educate the members through his saying (philosophies).
d. Shall carry out other functions assigned time to time by the chief.
       
POURER
    (a) Shall be responsible for the distribution of the palmwine in all club activities.
    (b) Shall make sure that palmwine are of good quality before the sale and consumption.
   
ARTICLE 10:- THE WORLD GRAND COUNCIL
1. The grand council of the world headquarters shall be known as world grand council.
2. The world grand council shall assist the world chief in all activities of the club.
3. The world grand council shall advice the world chief on matters reffered to it.
4. The world grand council shall meet on the direction of the world chief and the meeting shall be presided over the world chief.
5. The composition of the world grand council of ilyasis.
   
ARTICLE    11

1. THE WORLD CHIEF
a) He shall be the overall administrator of the club.
b) His decisions shall be final on all matters affecting the club, at all levels.
c) He shall preside over all reaction of the club in which he is parent except the council of elders meeting.
d) He shall be the main interpreter of all provision of the written and unwritten constitution of club.
e) He hall convene the meeting of the council of chief its where and when necessary.
f) He shall take any action he deems fit on behalf of world headquarters.
g) He shall convene meeting of the world grand council where and when necessary.
h) He shall take any action which be feels is in the best interest of the club.

2.      THE COUNCIL OF WORLD CHIEFISTS
a. The council of world chiefisis shall be the highest regulating body of the clubs.
b. The council shall consist of past and present chiefisis of the world headquarters only.
